Small tools for a world where machines read, quote and call for you

Customers now ask an assistant before they decide, voices can be copied, and scammers pretend to be the owner. These free tools help with that. Nothing you type leaves this page.

Got a quote from a contractor or a service? See what to ask before you sign

Paste the quote you received. We check it for the same 9 things a careful buyer (or an assistant) looks for, and give you the exact question to ask for each one that's missing. A missing item doesn't mean the price is unfair; it means you should ask.

For you and your family

A call, text or email says it's from a business you know. Is it really them?

Scammers copy real local businesses, banks and even family members' voices. Answer six quick questions about the message you got.

1. Are they asking you to pay by gift card, wire transfer, crypto or a payment app?
2. Do they say it's urgent: today, or you'll lose service, pay a penalty, or someone will be hurt?
3. Is the number, email or website different from the one on your last invoice or their real website?
4. Did a text or email send you a payment link you didn't ask for?
5. Did they ask you to keep it secret, or not to call anyone back?
6. Is it a voice you know asking for money, but something feels off?

For business owners

Will your quote look fair when the customer asks an assistant?

Some customers now paste a quote into ChatGPT or a price checker and ask "is this fair?". The machine only sees what is written. In our small test, the same price was called fair more often when the quote explained itself. Paste your quote and see what is missing.

For families and for businesses

A secret word that changes every month

A voice can now be copied from a few seconds of video. If someone calls in a panic asking for money, or "the owner" calls staff asking for cash, ask for this month's word. Everyone who knows the same secret phrase sees the same word, and it changes by itself each month. Agree on the phrase in person, never by text.

Who is it for?

For business owners

Tell customers and staff exactly how you will (and won't) contact them

Scammers copy local businesses: fake numbers, fake sites, calls to staff pretending to be the owner. A short public card and a staff rule make the fake ones easy to spot.

Sylvania Lab tools are experiments. They run in your browser; nothing is sent or stored. The quote check is a checklist, not legal advice and not a price opinion.
