How to remove fake Google reviews

You can't delete a review yourself. You can report it, and Google removes reviews that break its rules. A review isn't removed just because it's negative. It's removed when it's fake, off-topic, from a competitor or someone with a conflict of interest, offensive, or shares personal information.

Google changes its screens from time to time. These steps match what we saw in Oct 2026.

Where to click

  1. On your phone or computer, sign in to the Google account that manages your business.
  2. Search your business name on Google. Your profile shows with the owner tools.
  3. Open "Reviews" and find the review.
  4. Tap the three dots next to it, then "Report review".
  5. Pick the reason that fits best, for example "Conflict of interest" or "Off topic".
  6. To check the status later, or to appeal, use Google's "Reviews management tool". Search for that name and sign in with the same account.

Reply while you wait

one calm, short public reply helps future customers more than silence. Example: "We can't find any record of a visit under this name. If we missed something, please call us at [phone] so we can make it right."

Don't

pay anyone who promises to "delete" reviews, argue in public, or ask friends to post reviews to balance it out. That breaks Google's rules too.

Questions owners ask

How long does Google take?

Google decides. Report once with the right reason, then check the status in the Reviews management tool.

Google said no. Now what?

You can appeal once in the same tool. If it stays, a calm reply is your best answer.

Can you remove it for me?

No one can remove a review except Google. We can help you report it properly and write the reply.
