My Google reviews disappeared. Why?

Last updated: Oct 2026

Google changes its screens from time to time. These steps match what we saw in Oct 2026.

Usual reasons

  • Google's spam filter removed them. This often happens when many reviews arrive at once, or come from the same place or device, like customers posting on your shop's Wi-Fi.
  • Google judged they were given in exchange for something: a discount, a gift, an entry into a draw.
  • The person deleted their review, or their Google account.
  • Your profile was suspended or merged with a duplicate. Reviews usually return if the profile is reinstated.

What you can and can't fix

  • Reviews removed by Google's filter rarely come back. Don't ask the same customers to post again on your premises.
  • If your whole profile changed (suspended, merged, moved), fix that first. That's often where the reviews went.

How to avoid it

ask every customer by text after the visit, at their own pace, at home. Never offer anything in exchange.

Questions owners ask

Can I ask Google to restore them?

If you think real reviews were removed by mistake, you can ask through Google's Business Profile help. There is no guarantee.

Did someone report them?

Possibly, but filters remove far more reviews than reports do.

Will it affect how I show up?

Fewer, older reviews make you look less active. Steady new reviews from real customers help.
