How do I transfer ownership of my Google Business Profile?

Last updated: Oct 2026

When you need it

you're changing emails, selling the business, or handing day-to-day work to someone else.

Where to click

sign in, search your business name on Google, open the menu with the three dots, choose "Business Profile settings", then "Managers" ("People and access" on some screens). Add the new person's email and choose "Owner" or "Manager".

Safe order

add the new owner first. Wait until they accept and can see the profile. Only then remove the old one.

Owner or manager?

Owners can do everything, including removing other people. Managers can edit and reply to reviews. Give "Owner" only to people you'd trust with the keys to your shop.

Questions owners ask

I'm selling my business. What do I do?

Add the buyer as owner after the sale closes, then remove yourself. The reviews stay with the business.

Does transferring change my reviews or ranking?

No. The profile stays the same. Only who manages it changes.

Can you set this up for me?

Yes, as a quick fix. You stay the owner.
