10 questions to ask any agency before you sign

Last updated: Oct 2026

  1. "Will my Google profile, website and domain be in my name?" The answer should be yes.
  2. "What exactly will you do each month?" Ask for a list, not "optimization".
  3. "How will I see what changed?" You should get dates and proof, not only charts.
  4. "Do you promise first place on Google?" No one can. A promise is a red flag.
  5. "Can I cancel, and what happens to my accounts if I do?" Everything should stay yours.
  6. "Who will actually do the work?" Ask for a name.
  7. "Will you post reviews for us?" The answer should be no. Fake reviews break Google's rules.
  8. "What does it cost in total, including setup?" Get it in writing.
  9. "Can I talk to a client of yours?" A real agency can arrange it.
  10. "What will you check first?" A good answer is specific to your business.

Red flags

a long contract on day one, a promise of rankings, accounts in their name, and reports you can't understand.

Our own answers

everything stays in your name; we show what we found with the date; we don't promise rankings or AI answers; you approve each fix and its price first. Prices are on our Prices page.

Questions owners ask

Are long contracts bad?

Not always. But you should be able to see results before you commit for a year.

What should a small business pay?

It depends on the work. Ask for a written list of tasks and the price for each.
