Why is my business not showing on Google Maps?
When customers search for your kind of business on Google Maps, you're not there, or only when they type your exact name.
Last updated: Oct 2026
What a customer sees
A map with other businesses nearby, and not yours.
Or a pin with no phone, no hours and no photos, which looks closed.
Check it yourself in 2 minutes
- Open Google Maps on your phone and search your exact business name.
- Then search what a customer would type, like "plumber Skokie".
- Note whether you show, and what your pin shows.

Questions owners ask
Can you put me at the top of the map?
No one can promise that. Google decides the order. We fix what keeps you from showing properly.
Why do I show for my name but not my service?
Often the category, the description or the website doesn't say clearly what you do and where.
I work from home. Can I still be on Maps?
Yes. Google lets service businesses hide their address and show a service area instead.
