BUSINESS OWNER QUESTIONS
Why is my business not showing up?
A business can be difficult to find for several different reasons. The useful first step is to establish what customers actually see and where the path breaks.
Check identity, relevance, and access
Look for consistent business names, services, locations, hours, contact details, and working destination pages. A customer may also use different words from the owner, or encounter a listing that is incomplete, duplicated, or incorrect.
Visibility alone is not the whole answer
Appearing does not guarantee understanding, trust, or action. Public evidence can document what is visible and whether the next step works. It cannot by itself prove search demand, ranking causes, or lost revenue.
What to check
- Search the exact business name and the plain words customers use for the service.
- Check whether listings are complete, accurate, duplicated, or tied to an old location.
- Confirm that linked pages load and match the service or location being described.
- Compare names, phone numbers, hours, and categories across visible sources.
A simple example
A business may appear for its exact name but not for the service customers search. The cause could be unclear service language, an incomplete listing, or a page that does not explain the relevant work—not simply a lack of advertising.
What this can and cannot prove
A public check can confirm what appears for selected searches and whether visible information is accurate. It cannot reveal the search system’s full reasoning, prove how often customers search, or calculate lost calls. Results can also vary by location, device, and time.
